SCHOOL SAFETY & SECURITY- DECEMBER 2012
Sunset Elementary School is located at the corner of Green and 7th Street. It houses 14 regular classrooms and 301 students. The original building was constructed in 1955 with additions in 1960 and 1978. An auditorium/lunchroom, gymnasium, library, computer center, and music room support regular classroom activities. The school serves students kindergarten through fourth grade.
Sunset's staff concentrates on reading and writing skills along with mathematics. In addition to the core curriculum, speech therapy, special education, Title I, and counseling are an integral part of Sunset's program. Children are given a good educational foundation to help them succeed as they continue through the grades.
There is a very active volunteer program which helps support student progress and activities. Visitors are welcome at Sunset anytime.

Information for Classroom Competition
Get on the bus with Box Tops and start clipping! Every class will have their “bus” move along the “Box Top Roads to Success” bulletin board in the Hallway. All submitted Box Tops will count toward class totals, so be sure to include your teacher’s name on all submissions!
You can also earn Boxtops by shopping online. You can earn eBoxTops by shopping through the Box Tops Marketplace or the Box Tops Reading Room. Each participating retailer at the Marketplace and the Reading Room has agreed to donate a certain number of eBoxTops for every qualifying $10 purchase a Box Tops member makes through btfe.com.
When your class reaches each goal, you will be rewarded with the following prizes:
350 Box Tops = Pick out of the Treasure Chest
850 Box Tops = Extra Recess
1500 Box Tops = Popsicle party
2200 Box Tops = 30 minutes Extra Computer Lab or IPods or possibly Kinect.
